Livestock on Small Acreages-

Livestock on Small Acreages is an educational program being developed by the URI Cooperative Extension Water Quality staff in cooperation with URI 4-H, Animal Science and Communication Studies.

It’s all about protecting water resources, healthy animals and healthy people.
Many of us who keep livestock do so because we enjoy animals. Whether they are for companionship, food or fiber, animals are an important part of our lives. Therefore, we want to be sure our animals are healthy - and we are in good health for caring for them.

Being aware of possible water resource pollution due to livestock management is important to maintaining our goal of healthy people and animals.

4-H volunteers and teens can get involved and have been involved:
Focus Groups (Winter 2007)
Completing Surveys (Spring 2007)
4-H Jr Conference – Build a Farm (Summer 2007)
Training Program (Coming Fall 2008) - contact Heidi Wright for more info at heidiw@etal.uri.edu
