Want to Join or Volunteer?

Volunteers are the heart of 4-H. They share what they know- organizational skills, public speaking, special talents, kindness, etc... Volunteers serve as leaders, assistant leaders, project leaders (helper), workshop presenters, judges and assist at events. They are on advisory boards, committees and the 4-H Foundation.

Volunteer and start your own 4-H club.  To start a club the first step is to print and fill out the RI 4-H Volunteer Form and the background Check Form.  Send both forms to the State 4-H Office, Peckham Farm/URI, Kingston, RI 02881.  Then call the 4-H Office make an appointment to receive valuable training and help getting your club started.

All volunteers must complete the volunteer application process to work with 4-H children.  Kids call the 4-H Office and they will help you find a club to join. Then you and your Leader will fill out the member enrollment form together.

At the end of the 4-H year Volunteers receive recognition for years of service, outstanding projects and are invited to a banquet!

Vote for your favorite Volunteers, for the Volunteer Awards!

Send all forms back to the State 4-H Office, the address is on the left.* Forms are in PDF Format. Please download the Free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

How can I volunteer?

In Rhode Island, hundreds of volunteers every year, devote time to children. They are leaders, project experts, and helpers. They can work: with children directly, on adult advisory boards, on fundraising committees. Everyone has special talents and abilities, and Rhode Island 4-H welcomes you, to share them with our youth.

It's easy call: the State 4-H office at 874-2981 Or email: kstone@etal.uri.edu We can help you contact the nearest 4-H club or establish your own club.

4-H Orientation are held throughout the year to help you become acclimated to the 4-H system and what is available. Those interested in 4-H are encouraged to learn about becoming an official 4-H Volunteer. Orientation training is scheduled regularly.
