The Big E

4-H Demonstration Program at the Big E

- Members, ages 9 and over, (including club units) in the New England Center, demonstrate projects, perform stage acts, provide 4-H information, and participate in the Big E daily parade for a 2-3 day period. All 4-H Members and chaperons stay in the Moses Dormitory on the Big E grounds; room and meals are provided. The Big E runs for two full weeks.

4-H Animal Programs at the Big E

4-H Members, 12 and over, may apply to participate in the "Big E," the New England 4-H Regional "Fair," in the horse, beef, sheep, dairy, dairy goat, dog and New England Center shows. Application deadlines vary with each program, starting with beef steer entries in February of each year.  In the animal science programs, 4-H Members and their animal(s) compete in general knowledge exams, educational exhibits, breed classes, showmanship, quiz bowls, and special events during a 2-4 day program.

4-H Day at the Big E

One day is designated 4-H Day, free tickets (a $10 value) are provided for all 4-H Members and Leaders requesting them in advance from the URI 4-H Office. Transportation is not provided.
