Animal
Exhibits Dairy,
Rabbits, Sheep, Beef, Dairy Goats, Poultry, and Swine Exhibits (No
Working Steer Show) All
4-H animal exhibitors MUST participate in their respective showmanship
classes, and adhere to the revised
animal health regulations listed in the RI 4-H Exhibits Guidelines. 4-H
Livestock Shows will follow the RI 4-H Exhibits Guidelines for 2008, unless
stated. Livestock
Arrival: Friday, July 25th, 4-8:00 PM. Livestock Release: Sunday, July 27th,
6:00 PM, after all areas are
cleaned. Bedding/Feed:
Sheep, dairy, beef, dairy goat, and swine exhibitors will provide their own
bedding and feed. Rabbits will be fed by the Rabbit Show
Chairperson; exhibitors must bring their own feed and water dishes. SHOW
SPECIFICS FOR Rabbits, Beef, Dairy Goats, Swine: 4-H Rabbit
Show: All 4-H Rabbit Exhibitors will participate in both the (1) Rabbit Quiz
and (2) Rabbit Showmanship. These events will be scored as separate events. 4-H Beef
Show: No-Fit Showmanship class this year. 4-H Dairy
Goats: Separate Fitting and Showmanship classes. Cloverleaf Division (see
sheep description) New ****
ANIMAL EXHIBITORS****New A written knowledge quiz will be
given for exhibitors in Swine, Sheep, Rabbit and Dairy Goat Areas. This
is a great opportunity to find out how much you know about your animal. The
quiz will be given upon arrival on Friday. SHOW
SPECIFICS FOR Sheep: 4-H
Sheep Show: Fitting and Showmanship, Open Cloverleaf Division (not a 4-H
Class): Youth under 7 approved by the Show Chair. No premiums will be awarded
in the Cloverleaf Division. Cloverleaf exhibitors must be accompanied by a
parent, adult volunteer or 4-H Junior Leader in the show ring. Sheep Leadline class brought back this year. Sheep
exhibitors will participate in a Sheep written quiz this year. No
Costume Class or Blocking Workshop this year. The RI Sheep Cooperative will award each 4-H Sheep Exhibitor at Foster
Old Home Days and the SHOW
SPECIFICS FOR Dog: OPEN
DOG SHOW - Friday, July 25, 2008 7:00 PM Pre-Registration: Friday, July 25th, 5:30-6:30 PM *Fee: $3.00 per class -
this will be donated to local animal shelters in Classes: 1. Obstacle Course 2. Costume -
Dress up your pet in costume. You may also dress up! 3. Obedience Class
(Including a special Police Dog Demonstration!) 4. Tricks - Who can do
the best trick! Rules: 1. Pets should be healthy. 2. Pets should be on
leashes or in pet carriers at all times. 3. Pets should be clean. 4. Keep
your pet away from other pets. 5. Do not leave pets unattended. 6. Do not
bring unfriendly pets. 7. Make sure your pet has water. 8. Clean up after
your pet. 9. Dogs must have rabies shot NRI 4-H Clubs and the Foster Old Home Days Committee are not responsible
for any lost or harmed pets, or injury to
exhibitors. Overnight
Supervision of Livestock 4-H Fair
Livestock Show Superintendents may designate an adult as overnight supervisor
to maintain security for their livestock section. 4-H Exhibitors with animals
may stay overnight with these designated adults or an adult family member,
camper space permitting. There are 6
spaces designated for 4-H Campers at Foster Old Home Days. Preference will be
given to 4-H Show Superintendents and their families. All Campers must be
registered with Bill Jones (397-3269) by July 16th. All campers must be self-supporting
units; there are NO water or electric hookups on the grounds. All campers
housing 4-H Exhibitors need an adult chaperon. A list of all individuals
staying on the grounds must be given to Bill Jones by 8:00 PM on July 25th.
Campers will be assigned spaces by the Foster Old Home Days Committee.
Campers should be brought to the fairgrounds preferably on Thursday night,
July 24th, after 6:30 PM, but no later than 4:00 PM on Friday, July 25th.
Stock trailers may not be left on the grounds at any time. No alcoholic beverages are allowed on the
grounds. Curfew is when the Foster Old Home Days Committee shuts down the
lights following the last show or event on each night. At that time, all
overnighters must be in their camper area. |
