Special  4-H Events including:  exhibits, workshops and public speaking opportunities, 4-H animal shows, 4-H Dog Demonstration, an Open Horse Show with 4-H Classes, and MORE!

 

In addition, there are... Master Gardener Exhibits and Contests, FFA Petting Farm, Club Booths, Commercial Exhibits, Demonstrations, Children's Games, Food Booths... Don't forget the State Teens Chicken Barbecue or the Breakfast in the Barn! Special Events: Entertainment and oxen, tractor, and draft horse pulls.   Just check the schedule for a full listing of events.

4-H Scavenger Hunt!

We're working on a new, 4-H Scavenger Hunt! With GREAT Prizes! The contest will run all weekend! All forms must be complete and turned in at the 4-H Exhibits Hall by noon on Sunday. Pick up your entry form at the 4-H Exhibit Hall any time Friday - Sunday.

 

The 4-H ACTIVITY CENTER

Back by popular demand! Demonstrations by 4-H members, 4-H project videos, "make n' take" craft workshops, a poster contest, science projects, and a Cookie Design Contest, and the Boat Races! A complete schedule will be posted just outside the 4-H Exhibit Hall. Come join the fun! The newest 4-H Project materials will also be on display! There's room in the schedule if any 4-H Clubs or individual members would like to demonstrate a project. Call Lori Kelsall 647-7791 or email bigrig1821@juno.com for more information.

 

4-H Fair Admission Passes

Each 4-H Exhibitor will receive a pass for the exhibitor and two parents to enter the fair at no admission charge. There is parking on the grounds, but space is limited. There are no guarantees of on-ground parking for anyone. Free parking is available on the roads outside the fairgrounds. Children under 12 are admitted free at all times. Friends, grandparents, and additional family members will be charged the regular fair admission.

4-H Exhibit Hall

 

4-H club, individual and single item exhibits will follow the RI 4-H Exhibits Guidelines.  Please note the changes in this year's class guidelines, score sheets, and entry forms.

 

Space allotments for all other exhibits are as follows: (all 30 inches deep) :   Club Exhibits (A&E) - 3 ft. max.; Club Clothing - 4 ft. max.; Individual Exhibits - 2 ft. max; Clothing - 3 ft. max.; Single Items - Will be placed by the Exhibit Superintendent. Additional space may be requested in advance for large item exhibits.  Note: All exhibits must be self-supporting. Exhibitors must provide their own backboards.

Exhibit Set-Up: Thursday, July 23rd, 7-9 PM.; Exhibit Take-Down: Sunday, July 26th, 6 PM.

 

Section D: Special Class 27E: 4-H ANIMAL PROJECT PROMOTION - PHOTOS, ADS, POSTERS

Photo Contest: All animal project photographs must be taken by the 4-H member making the entry. Entries may be black and white, or color photos. The photos must measure 5"x7" minimum; 8"x 10"maximum. The entries should be labeled with a short, identifying caption's or theme on the front. All photos must be matted or framed.

Ad Layout Contest: Develop an advertisement promoting your 4-H animal project, animal products or the animal industry. Do not use any commercial or brand names, including farm names, in your ad. (Think of this as developing a full-page ad on your animal project for a national magazine) Finished advertisements should fit on paper size 8 1/2"x 11".

Poster Contest: Members may use pictures, drawings, photographs, charts, computer graphics...and words to promote one aspect of their 4-H animal production, management or showmanship - such as barn safety, proper animal nutrition, why pick a specific breed, etc. Posters should make people stop, read and remember. Use standard size, 22"x 28", poster board.

*Member's name, address, age as of January 1, 2009, 4-H Club, and contest entered must be attached to the BACK of each entry.
