Suicide Response and Prevention Training:
Many students who are considering suicide (the third leading cause of death for American young adults ages 18-24) provide warning signs before taking their lives (The American Association of Suicidology, 2009). The University of Rhode Island Counseling Center is currently offering QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Training, which is internationally recognized as a leading approach to suicide prevention. By completing this training, administrators, staff, and faculty will gain support with asking difficult questions about suicide, better understand warning signs to help prevent suicide, and learn how to help students access resources to further instill hope for the future. To learn more information about scheduling a QPR Training for your department or campus organization, please contact certified QPR Gatekeeper Instructor, Dr. Chantelle Pseekos, by phone: 401-874-2288 or email: acpseekos@mail.uri.edu.
Suicide Response and Prevention Training is now available for faculty, staff, and administrators!
