Fall 2014 Groups:

 

 

When a Family Member has an Addiction

This group is designed to:

  • Deepen your understanding of yourself,
  • Share the experiences that have had an impact on your life,
  • Explore how your current behavior relates to the past.
  • Make sense of your family’s interaction style, and
  • Help you develop healthier ways of coping.

 

Interpersonal Process

This group is designed to:

  • Develop new ways to cope with a wide range of challenges
  • Get direct feedback from peers and professionals,
  • Deepen your understanding of yourself, and
  • Build interpersonal skills and confidence.

 

LBTQ Women’s Group

Wednesdays 7:00 PM (held at the URI Women’s Center.  Drop-ins are welcome)

This group is designed to provide a space for lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning women to:

  • Be themselves in a safe and welcoming environment
  • Receive support from each other and the group facilitators
  • Relax and have fun

 

 

Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation and Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills

This group is designed to help you:

  • Become more effective in your ability to communicate and interact with others.
  • Become more aware of your emotions and what they are trying to tell you
  • Discover how to better manage your emotions
  • Learn how to live more in the present moment

 

Support for Sobriety

This group is for students who have quit drinking or using drugs:  It is designed to:

  • Support students who have chosen to quit drinking or using drugs
  • Be an alternative or addition to "12-step" programs (e.g. AA or NA)

 

Working Through Anxiety Group

This group will present skills to help you:

  • Change the way you think when stressed,
  • Relax when you are tense, and
  • Overcome symptoms of anxiety.

(note: walk-ins are welcome at the LBTQ Women’s Group).
