IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE EXISTING COVENANTS AND UNIVERSITY LOAN AGREEMENTS, ALL STUDENTS WHO ELECT TO RESIDE IN UNIVERSITY RESIDENCE HALLS OR "SUITE-STYLE" APARTMENTS WITHOUT KITCHENS ARE REQUIRED TO PURCHASE A RESIDENT MEAL PLAN EACH SEMESTER. DOLLARS REMAINING FROM THE FALL SEMESTER MAY NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PURCHASING A RESIDENT MEAL PLAN DURING THE SPRING SEMESTER. A FEE MAY BE APPLIED IF A STUDENT CANCELS THEIR HOUSING AND DINING AGREEMENT BEFORE THE END OF THE SPRING SEMESTER.

READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION CAREFULLY BEFORE CHOOSING A RESIDENT MEAL PLAN

- A RESIDENT MEAL PLAN choice allows for an unlimited number of visits (meals) per week for the academic semester. There are no refunds for uneaten meals and no transfer of uneaten meals to another student.

- Access to meals is only through the use of a computerized, valid University of Rhode Island Student Identification Card and Biometric Hand Recognition. Meal Plans and Student Identification Cards may only be used by the person to whom they are issued. Guests must be accompanied by the authorized user.

- In Mainfare at Hope Commons and Butterfield Dining Hall portions are unlimited . All meals must be consumed in Dining Hall; no food is allowed to be taken out.

- Guest meals are available on a Resident Plan. Guest meals are included with each Resident Plan. This means that a student may bring a guest to any meal at no charge six, ten, or twenty times during the course of an academic semester depending on their plan selection. Students can also use their Dining Dollars to allow a guest to any meal at the full cash value of the meal price.

- A $10 fee from the Campus Access Office is charged to replace the lost I.D. card. Students with a balance of Dining Dollars pay cash for their meals and will be reimbursed upon presenting a refund receipt with a new I.D. card.

- RESIDENT MEAL PLANS WITH DINING DOLLARS (Campus Premiere and Campus Plus) allow students to make purchases at Dining Services Retail Operations. EACH DOLLAR IS WORTH ONE DOLLAR IN FOOD VALUE WHEN USED IN DINING HALL OR DINING SERVICE RETAIL OPERATIONS. When a student contracting for a Resident Meal Plan with Dining Dollars chooses to allow extra guests per academic semester to eat in the dining halls, the following dollars are deducted from the balance of Dining Dollars in their account: $7.00 for breakfast; $10.00 for lunch and brunch; $12.00 for dinner. Dollars remaining at the end of the Fall Semester will be transferred and added to the second semester meal plan selection. However, they may not be used as a substitute for a second semester Resident Meal Plan since Dining Dollars do not cover the operational costs of the semester. ALL DINING DOLLARS MUST BE USED BY THE END OF THE SPRING SEMESTER. There is no transfer or credit for unused Dining Dollars at the end of the Spring Semester. Students may, however, choose a different Resident Meal Plan for the Spring Semester if there is a need to adjust the Dining Dollars level up or down. Students selecting a Resident Meal Plan with Dining Dollars should carefully calculate the number of dollars they require based upon anticipated usage. The guaranteed availability of Dining Dollars is based upon the balance of Dining Dollars in a student's account. Additional Dining Dollars may be purchased at anytime during the semester by depositing funds into a Ram Account. The Ram Account will fund any purchases made at Dining Services Retail Operations.

Students contracting for a Resident Meal Plan with Dining Dollars are provided the convenience of using their Dining Dollars in the following Dining Services Retail Operations: Rhody Market at Hope Commons featuring Freshens, Upper Crust, and Common Grounds, Ram's Den at Memorial Union featuring Food Court, Asian Jump Express, and Denelli's Deli, Ram Escape at Memorial Union, Daily Grind at the Library, Corner Store at Hope Commons, Slapshotz at Boss Arena, Timeout at Keaney Gym and the Dining Services Distribution Center for Catering and Warehouse items. WHEN DOLLARS ARE USED FOR PURCHASES IN THE DINING SERVICES RETAIL OPERATIONS, THE FULL CASH PRICE OF THE PURCHASE IS DEDUCTED FROM THE AVAILABLE BALANCE OF DINING DOLLARS. For instance, a purchase of $3.37 at the Ram's Den would mean that $3.37 would be deducted from the account balance.

The Ram Account

The RAM ACCOUNT is not a substitute for a Resident Meal Plan but is designed to provide U.R.I. students, faculty and staff with an added option of making convenient, safe and efficient purchases at Dining Services Retail Operations and, in addition, participating vendors on and off-campus. After opening a RAM ACCOUNT, students simply present their U.R.I. I.D. card for purchases at any location displaying the RAM ACCOUNT at the register. The account will automatically be debited for the amount of purchase.

Resident Meal Plan students can also enhance their flexibility by adding a RAM ACCOUNT to increase the balance of their Dining Dollars to use at Dining Services Retail operations or to make purchases at participating vendors that accept the RAM ACCOUNT. Participation in the RAM ACCOUNT also has the added benefit of never having to stand in line to verify checks and never needing to carry cash for your purchases. RAM ACCOUNT balances transfer from year to year until a student withdraws or graduates, at which time a student may request a refund of the unused balance less a $50.00 service change.

The Ram Account is currently accepted at Butterfield Dining Hall, Mainfare at Hope Commons, Rhody Market at Hope Commons featuring Freshens, Upper Crust, and Common Grounds, Ram's Den at Memorial Union featuring Food Court, Asian Jump Express, and Denelli's Deli, Ram Escape at Memorial Union, Daily Grind at the Library, Corner Store at Hope Commons, Slapshotz at Boss Arena, Timeout at Keaney Gym and the Dining Services Distribution Center for Catering and Warehouse items, the U.R.I. Bookstore, Nick's Snack Shack, Ram Computer, Ronzio Pizza, Campus Copy & Design, U.R.I. Library, Health Services, Chemistry Stockroom, Dorm Washers & Dryers, Designated Vending Machines and participating off-campus merchants at the Emporium: Subway, Kingston Pizza, Caliente, Peking Tokyo, Papa Bistro, University Spirit, Albie's, Dunkin Donuts, International Pockets, International Pizza, International Steak, International Zone, Universal Nails, Burger Shack, Bagelz, Quiznos, CVS, Pizza Pockets, and also at CVS in Wakefield and Narragansett, Roch's Fresh Produce in Narragansett, Bagelz in Wakefield and Kingston Pizza in Narragansett.
