New Students

URI Orientation and New Student Programs for Admitted Students

Disability Services for Students works collaboratively with New Student Programs and Orientation to welcome new students with disabilities.

The Orientation Program operates seven separate 2-day sessions for first-year students and also two one-day session for Transfer Students. Disability Services for Students is available during each session of New Student Orientation to discuss your needs.

If you need an accommodation during orientation, please indicate your needs as you register online for your Orientation Session.

New Student's Parents and Families may speak with a DSS representative:

Family of Freshman:
We are available to speak with you on the First Day in the afternoon at the Student Services Fair and Reception.
On the Second Day, we welcome your visit to our office from 9-11 a.m. at 302 Memorial Union, in the Office of Student Life.

Family of Transfer Students:
We are available to speak with you during Transfer Orientataion Check-In - look for our banner. We also welcome your visit to our office by appointment.

Information Session for New Students with Disabilities:

FIRST TUESDAY (ADVISING DAY) of the Fall semester:
This is a great time for us to meet you; you will learn how to request accommodations at the University of Rhode Island; and we can get you set up with your first individual appointment.
Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from noon-2pm in the Hardge Forum of the Multicultural Center. PIZZA provided.
