    Computer and Internet Tips
    • Internet 101 - This website is a good starting point for beginner users of the Internet. The site is easy to use and explains many common terms and situations that will be encountered when using the Internet.
    • Internet Healthcare Coalition - This is an organization striving to improve the quality of healthcare information and services on the Internet. This link offers "Tips for healthy surfing online".
    • On-Line Technolgy Tutorials - From this site, the user can access links to learn about a variety of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Access, and Power Point.


    Health Information Search Tools
    • Health on the Net Foundation - This link lists criteria for evaluating health web sites. It provides a list of health web sites that abide by the HONcode. Their mission is to provide consumers and medical professionals with reliable online medical and health information.
    • Quackwatch - This is an organization that reviews health websites making false claims and participating in questionable practices. It provides the consumer with information to make informed decisions.
    • Vitalseek - Vitalseek is a health search engine that allows users to search URAC accredited web sites. URAC is also known as the American Accreditation HealthCare Commission. It is a non-profit organization seeking to establish standards for the healthcare industry.


    Health Information Sites
    • Aetna InteliHealth - This site sponsored by Aetna InteliHealth and has relationships with Harvard Medical School and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. It is a valuable source for online health information. This site follows the HON code of conduc
    • AllRefer.com Health Channel - This health site provides links to a medical encyclopedia, lists more than 1600 diseases and conditions, a diet and nutrition center, as well as health news and alternative medicine resources.
    • Drug Digest - This website is sponsored Express Scripts and provides general information on medications and herbal products, drug interactions, conditions and treatment options, and also includes a special senior section.
    • Healthfinder - This is a website developed by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services along with other Federal agencies. This site links to several thousand carefully selected health-related organizations to provide useful and trustworthy health information.
    • Mayo Foundation for Medical Education and Research - The Mayo Clinic provides information for all types of inquiries including general health information and specific topic searches as well as drug supplement links and treatment information.
    • Medem - This is an on-line network allowing consumers and healthcare professionals to access a variety of health information. There is a health library with information on diseases, conditions, life stages, and health strategies.
    • MedicineNet
    • MerckSource - This website is sponsored by Merck & Co., a pharmaceutical manufacturer. MerckSource features health and medical information for consumers and healthcare professionals. There is no advertising on this site and it contains links to a variety of resources.
    • WebMD - This site provides useful wellness information as well as tools to search for information about different disease states and prescription, herbal, and over the counter medications. WebMD follows the HON code of conduct and is URAC accredited.


    Local Resources
    • Rhode Island Department of Health - This website provides information about health related issues that are going on within RI (ie: dates of flu clinics throughout the state). There are also links to different programs, publications, and health statistics.
    • RI.gov - This website is a useful resource for statewide information. From the main page there is a link for "health and public safety" that will direct you to categories for local health information.
    • RX for RI.org - This is a website for residents of RI to assist in locating patient assistance programs for prescription medications. The service is sponsored by many local resources and drug manufacturers.
    • URI Pharmacy Outreach Program- RI Residents Only - This website is available to Rhode Island residents providing the local community with the latest, most complete information regarding medications. Includes Rx cost assistance and info on Medicare Part D.


    MEDLINE
    • PubMed - PubMed is a service of the National Library of Medicine. It provides access to MEDLINE, a way to search the medical literature for current citations and those that date back to the 1960s. PubMed offers links full text articles and related sources.


    OrganizationsPharmacist Resources
    • CoreyNahman.com - This is a website providing daily news and updates relevant to the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to current pharmaceutical news there are links to CE credits, medical journals, databases and drug information.
    • Cytochrome P450 Drug Interactions - Site sponsored by the Indiana University Department of Medicine. This page specifically deals with drug interactions (Cytochrome P450) and is very technical in nature. There are links for each interaction referencing medical literature docume
    • eMedicine - Emedicine is a large clinical knowledge base available to physicians and other health professionals. It offers current health news, patient education, access to medical journals, and other important medical resources. This site subscribes to the HON code.
    • Medscape - This is a clinical resource for healthcare professionals that can be customized to the user’s area of interest. The information is well referenced and includes access to MEDLINE, medical conference information,journals, and professional news updates.


    Senior Information
    • FirstGov for Seniors - This is a government website allowing seniors to access a variety of reputable health information via the Internet. The websites of many government agencies may be accessed from this site.
    • Healthcentral.com- Senior Health - This is the web site of healthcentral.com and this page focuses on Senior Health. There is information on variety of topics that affect seniors. This site subscribes to the HON code principles.
    • Medicare - This is the official Medicare website. It provides information about prescription drug coverage as well as help understanding the Medicare Modernization Act.
    • Medicare Publications - This Medicare website offers a way to learn more about Medicare- including benefits and drug discount cards. The publications can be viewed on-line, printed, or ordered by telephone.
    • National Institute on Aging - This webite is the health information page from the National Institute on Aging. It contains a variety of health information, a resource directory, and a listing of Internet websites that may be useful to the senior population.
    • Staying Healthy at 50 + - This is a pocket resource guide provided by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. It focuses on topics to help consumers stay healthy over age 50.
