URI EMS currently operates two transporting ambulance and a supervisor fly car full time, 24/7/365.

Ambulance 1192 (2012-present)

Rescue 1192 is a PL Custom Classic 156

Type I ambulance on a 2012 Ford F-450 Super Duty Diesel Chassis.

Ambulance 1193 (1999-present)

Type III ambulance on a 1999 Ford Econoline
E-450 Super Duty Diesel Chassis.

Ambulance 1192 (?-1999)Old 1192

Replaced by the current 1192, this Rescue was a Type III ambulance with a Ford Diesel chassis and a small module box, the first Type III ambulance for URI.

The first ambulance of modern design for URI, the department inherited this Type II van ambulance as a donation from a service in Connecticut. The van was eventually donated to the South Kingstown Police Department as a SWAT team vehicle when it was replaced.

 

 

 

 

 

Ambulance 1190 (pre-1985-?)URICA 1190

This was the first ambulance operated by EMS. It was originally the ambulance operated by the URI Police Department until they ceased offering EMS services. This van was a converted utility van that barely functioned and was known to occasionally catch fire!

What to do in an Emergency!

  • DO NOT MOVE THE PATIENT unless the area is not safe (fire, etc)
  • Dial 401-874-2121 from your cell phone or 4-2121 from a university phone
  • Tell the dispatcher your name, location and a telephone number you can be reached at. Be as precise as possible.
  • Describe to the best of your knowledge what happened & how.
  • Do not hang up until the dispatcher hangs up first.
  • Clear the area of people who are not relatives or witnesses.
  • Have someone await the arrival of the ambulance at the
    entrance to guide the ambulance crew in.
  • Ensure that all access paths are clear for the ambulance crew.
