Ship's Equipment
| A Frame and J Frame |
The Endeavor is equipped with two permanently-installed hydraulic frames. An A-frame is located on the stern and J-frame on the starboard side of the ship. These frames are used to put equipment over the side of the ship and bring them back on board. Both frames are fitted with pad eyes for hanging blocks or other equipment. |
Crane |
| An Aurora telescoping boom marine crane is mounted on the 01 deck. The telescoping boom extends to 70 feet, covers all sections of open fantail and will extend 15 feet over the stern. It is used to move heavy equipment onto the ship when she is at the dock and sometimes is used in the deployment and recovery of scientific packages. |
Winches |
| Three permanently-installed winches are driven from a central hydraulic power system on the Endeavor. Each winch has a drum capacity to carry 10,000 meters (32,800 feet) of wire. Generally, the wires and cables used on the ship have diameters of 0.25 inches, 0.322 inches and 0.56 inches. |
