John Hall
“I think it is important for any teacher to spend time working with real world applications in the field they are teaching, particularly in science, where technology and new ideas generate change too rapid to depend on textbooks alone.”
Teacher: John Hall School: Westerly Middle School, Westerly, RI Expedition Title: Circulation Model of Narragansett Bay from Block Island Sound to Gay Head Expedition Dates: December 12 –15, 2005 Chief Scientists: Chris Kincaid, Rob Pockalny and Mark Wimbush
John Hall is teaching eighth grade science at Westerly Middle School, where he also serves as the science department Instructional Coordinator. John has brought his interest in technology, especially the Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP), to his classroom to enhance his physical science curriculum. He used his experience aboard the R/V Endeavor to expose his students to the many different career and learning opportunities available in the study of science. People of many different interests and backgrounds were working together, as a team, to make this research trip a success.
