A veteran teacher of 28 years Luci Rainho is proof to her students that learning is a life long endeavor. For the last 18 years she has been a science teacher at Shea High School in Pawtucket. Currently she is teaching Biology and Ecology to students in grades 9-12. She is an enthusiastic science educator who enjoys exploring marine science and involving her students whenever possible. Luci’s Rhode Island Teacher at Sea (RITAS) program experience involved researching the chemical composition of an area of the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Bermuda. Her nomination as an Amgen Science Teacher of Excellence reflects the dedication she possesses to teaching.
