“The experience onboard the Endeavor was tremendous! One of the best parts was sending emails to my students. I was able to inform them of the science going on and give them assignments based on the research being conducted onboard.”
John’s love of the water began at an early age. While growing up in Waterford, CT, John was involved in commercial fishing. He lobstered, crabbed, scalloped, gill netted, hauled the pound net, and helped run the family’s bait business. John then came to RI and received a degree in Wildlife Biology from URI. Prior to classroom teaching, John worked at the URI W. Alton Jones Environmental Education Center. While at W. Alton Jones, John helped develop and run a summer camp program entitled, “Marine Madness”, which is a joint venture with Mystic Aquarium. Currently, John teaches at Toll Gate High School and has enjoyed sharing his Endeavor experience with his students.
