Classroom Scheduling Guidelines

The goal of the Office of Enrollment Services is to satisfy all faculty requests for general assignment classrooms and meeting times. However, due to the limited number of general assignment rooms available, it is inevitable that there will be multiple requests for specific rooms, at specific times. The following guidelines will be used to assist Registrar personnel in resolving these conflicts. In cases where the registrar staff, after using the guidelines below, are unable to determine which class has a higher priority, department chairs and, if necessary, academic deans will be asked to prioritize the requests.

1. Departments must maximize utilization of their own classroom space before submitting requests for general assignment classrooms.

2. Meeting the instructional/special (programmatic) needs of the faculty will receive highest priority when scheduling classes. Instructional/special needs includes the technology resident in the classroom and the frequency of its use, an instructor with a documented disability certified by the ADA coordinator, the proximity of the classroom to a laboratory or to special materials used during instruction, and special program needs.

3. To insure that classroom space is used efficiently so that all may benefit, classes adhering to standard time frames will be scheduled before non-standard requests.

Standard time frames are as follows:

MWF 8

MWF 9

MWF 10

MWF 11

MWF 12
