Faculty Drop Policy and Email Instructions

Students not attending courses in which they enrolled have the obligation to drop those courses before the drop deadline. Names of students who are absent from the first and second class meetings of a course and who do not notify the course instructor of their intention to attend future class meetings may be submitted by the course instructor and/or the department chairperson to the Office of Enrollment Services for deletion from the class roster. If the instructor does not exercise this option, the student remains enrolled in the course unless s/he drops it through regular procedures.

If as an instructor you wish to drop a student on the above criteria you may do so via email at You should include the course#, Section, Name(s) and ID#'s of the students you wish to drop. You should receive a confirmation email that the student(s) has been dropped within 2 hours of the email unless the request is made after 4:30 pm or on the weekend.
