These federally funded grants are awarded to needy students. The amount of your Pell Grant is based on the Expected Family Contribution (EFC) noted on your Student Aid Report, the cost of attendance, and your enrollment status. Pell Grant Information
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants
These grants are for undergraduates with exceptional financial need, that is, students with the lowest expected family contribution. Priority is given to students who receive Federal Pell Grants. SEOG Information
University Grants
The University provides funds for grants to several hundred students. Awards are made to students with satisfactory academic records and demonstrated financial need.
URI Foundation Loan Funds, Scholarships, and Awards
Several thousand grants/scholarships are provided by organizations, corporations, and alumni. These grants are awarded to students with financial need who meet the particular restrictions of the donor.
National SMART Grant
(Science and Mathematics to Retain Talent)
The National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant, also known as the National Smart Grant is available during the third and fourth years of undergraduate study to full-time students who are eligible for the Federal Pell Grant and who are majoring in physical, life, or computer sciences, mathematics, technology, or engineering or in a foreign language determined critical to national security. Academic Competitiveness Grant is available for the first time for the 2006-2007 school year for first year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2006, and for second year students who graduated from high school after January 1, 2005. ACG Information
