APPLICABLE TO:
All applicants for University security positions.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The applicant must apply for a national criminal
records check and request that results be provided to the University
Office of Human Resource Administration.
The University Office of Human Resource Administration will
maintain records on file for the length of time the applicant is
employed in a security position. The University will reimburse
applicants for the cost of the records check in the event that the
applicant is hired.
POLICY:
In accordance with Rhode Island General Law 16-52-3
(Maintenance of Order on Campus), all applicants for University
security positions are required, as a condition of their employment,
to apply to the State Police Bureau of Criminal Identification for a
nationwide criminal records check at his/her own expense. The
applicant will request that the University Office of Human Resource
Administration be provided with the results. The University will
reimburse applicants subsequently hired for the cost of the national
criminal records check.
PROCEDURE:
All applicants for campus security positions, as a
condition of employment, will apply for a national criminal records
check (including the taking of fingerprints) from the Rhode Island
State Police at his/her own expense. The results will be provided, in
writing, to the applicant and, at his/her request, to the University
Office of Human Resource Administration which will maintain those
records on file for so long as the applicant is subsequently employed
by the University. Upon employment, the University will reimburse the
applicant for the cost of the national criminal records check.
