MINUTES

 

Faculty Senate Executive Committee Meeting #5 - August 5, 2009

 

1.   The meeting was called to order at 1:05 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5 2009 in the Provostís Conference Room in Green Hall, Chairperson Swallow presiding. All members were present.

 

            2.   The Minutes of Executive Committee Meeting #4, July 22, 2009, were approved pending review by Provost DeHayes and Vice Provost Beauvais.

 

3.   Announcements/Correspondence:

 

      a.   The Executive Committee reviewed and approved the Report of the CBUM Committee on Changes to the UNIVERSITY MANUAL for Fall 2009.

     

      b.   Chairperson Swallow reported that he, Vice Chairperson OrdoÒez and Ms. Grubman had been invited to the new faculty orientation on September 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. He explained that he had a previous commitment for that afternoon so Vice Chairperson OrdoÒez had agreed to represent the FSEC.

 

      Chairperson Swallow said that Ms. Grubman had requested a few minutes be set aside for a brief overview of the Faculty Senate by Vice Chairperson OrdoÒez, rather than simply being available to answer questions as had been the case the previous fall.

 

4.   The Executive Committee devoted the remainder of the meeting to reviewing the Provostís Draft Academic Plan. They identified areas that they felt needed clarification and made suggestions for revisions.

 

            When the meeting time expired, the Executive Committee agreed to meet again on August 20 at 12:00 noon to continue their review of the draft.  

 

The meeting was adjourned at 3:05 p.m.
