At meeting No. 377 held March 8, 2002, the
Graduate Council considered and approved the following curricular
matters which are now submitted to the Faculty Senate for information
or confirmation as indicated.

1. Department of Communicative
Disorders
a. Temporary Course:
CMD 583X Acquired Cognitive-Communication
Disorders 3 Study of cognitively based communication deficits
including attention, memory, and executive functions. Patterns of
practice and rehabilitative methods for brain injured adults and
adolescents. (Lec) Pre: Graduate standing

1. Department of History
a. Change:
Change the program requirements for the MA in
History to read (changes underlined):
An approved program will require 30 credits,
including at least three credits from HIS 401, 441, or 481 and at
least nine credits from HIS 506, 507 and 508. Three of these nine
credits may be filled by a 500 or 600 level seminar in another
department.

Change the number of credits from 0 to 0-1

Psychology
a. Add (New):
PSY 613 Qualitative Research and Analysis in
Psychology 3 Introduction qualitative methods and analyses with a
focus on interviews, focus groups and visual data methods. Counts as
a "core" methodology course for graduate study in psychology and
includes historical and contemporary perspectives in psychology. (Lec
2/Lab 2) In alternate years. Pre: Graduate standing
4. Graduate School of
Library and Information Studies
a. Change:
Increase the number of credits permitted to be
taken at the regional centers from 27 to 36 credits
B. Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program
in Applied Mathematical Sciences
1. Changes:
Addition of a second core area in Computer
Science, reinstatement of a specialization in Statistics, deletion of
the specialization and core area in Applied Probability and: (changes

Program requirements:
dissertation, 54 credits beyond the bachelor's degree including MTH
435, 436; two courses selected from MTH 462, 513, 515, 535, 545, 547,
548, 561, 641, CSC 544 and CSC 542, (one of these courses must be
either MTH 513 or MTH 515); and three core courses in each of two of
the following areas: applied mathematics, basic analysis,
computational mathematics, computer science fundamentals and theory,
applied computer science, operations research, statistics.
C. College of Pharmacy

Practice
a. Add (New):
PHP 555 Advanced Neuropsychiatric
Pharmacotherapy 3 Comprehensive and advanced course on the
pharmacotherapy of psychiatric and neurological diseases. Use of
clinical cases studies, evaluation of the primary literature, and
other forms of interactive teaching will be emphasized. (Lec) Pre:

MIS 697 Doctoral Research Seminar 3 Provides a
rigorous analysis of current research questions and the research
techniques used to address those questions pertinent to Management
Information Systems. Recent developments and current issues are

MIS 699 Doctoral Dissertation Research Number
of credits is determined each semester in consultation with the major
