Revised General Education Program (2001)

The University College and General Education Committee considered the following matters at their meeting of November 6, 2003. They are now presented to the Faculty Senate for confirmation.

I. English Communication: Writing Core Area (ECw)

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the following courses for the ECw) area of the revised General Education Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity designation:

WRT 104 Writing to Inform and Explain (reading complex texts, writing effectively, using information technology)

WRT 106 Writing from Field, Print and Electronic Sources (using qualitative data, writing effectively, using information technology)

WRT 235 Writing in Electronic Environments (speaking effectively, using artistic expression, writing effectively, using information technology)

WRT 303 Public Writing (speaking effectively, reading complex texts, writing effectively)

WRT 305 Travel Writing (examining human differences, reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity

II. Fine Arts and Literature Core Area (A)

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the following course for the (A) area of the revised General Education Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity designation:

ART 101 Two-Dimensional Design (reading complex texts, speaking effectively, using artistic expression)

ART 207 Introduction to Drawing (reading complex texts, speaking effectively, using artistic expression)

ARH 251 Introduction to the History of Art (examining human differences, reading complex texts, using qualitative data) Diversity

ENG 110 Introduction to Literature (examining human differences, reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity

FRN 309 French Culture and Literature to 1789 (examining human differences, reading complex texts, speaking effectively, using information technology) Diversity

FRN 310 Modern French Culture and Literature (examining human differences, reading complex texts, speaking effectively, using information technology) Diversity

THE 181 Script Analysis (reading complex texts, using artistic expression, writing effectively)
