Revised General Education Program
(2001)
The University College and General Education Committee considered
the following matters at their meeting of February 19, 2004. They are
now presented to the Faculty Senate for confirmation.
I. English
Communication: Writing Core Area (ECw)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate
approve the following courses for the (ECw) area of the revised
General Education Program (2001):
1) WRT 201 Writing Argumentative and Persuasive Texts
(speaking effectively, writing effectively, using qualitative data)
2) WRT 333 Scientific and Technical Writing (speaking
effectively, writing effectively, using quantitative data)
II. Fine Arts and Literature Core Area
(A)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the
following courses for the (A) area of the revised General Education
Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity
designation:
1) ENG 241 U.S. Literature (examining human
differences, reading complex texts, speaking effectively, writing
effectively) Diversity
2) ENG 252 British Literature (examining human differences,

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the
following courses for the (L) area of the revised General Education
Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity
designation:

The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the

V. Social Sciences Core Area (S)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve the
following course for the (S) area of the revised General Education
Program (2001), including the assignment of the Diversity
designation:
