Additions to the General Education Program
The University College and General Education Committee considered the
following matters at their meeting of November 4, 2004. They are now
presented to the Faculty Senate for confirmation.
I. Fine Arts and Literature (A)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve FRN
320 for the (A) area of the General Education program as follows:
FRN 320 Studies in French Cinema (examining human differences,
reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity
II. Foreign Language/Cross-cultural Competence (FC)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve FRN
320 for the (FC) area of the General Education program as follows:
FRN 320 Studies in French Cinema (examining human differences,
reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity
III. Letters Core Area (L)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve AAF
201 for the (L) area of the General Education Program as follows:
AAF 201 Introduction to African & African American Studies (examining
human differences, reading complex texts, writing effectively) Diversity
IV. Mathematical and Quantitative Reasoning Core Area (MQ)
The UCGE Committee recommends that the Faculty Senate approve PSC
109 (or MTH 109) for the (MQ) area of the General Education Program as follows:
PSC 109 (or MTH 109) Politics and Mathematics (reading complex
texts, using quantitative data, using information technology)
