The following temporary courses have been
proposed this month:
EDC 436X Learning
and Teaching Writing K-8 (3)
Writing and spelling development and
instruction development addressed through participation in writing
workshop, readings on writing development and instruction, assessing
children's writings, participating in video cases of writing
instruction, and developing instructional plans. (Lec. 3) Pre:
restricted to students accepted to teacher education or graduate
standing or permission of instructor. APPROVED
EDC 447X Evaluating
Instructional Materials in Literacy (3)
Designed to teach literacy educators to
evaluate instructional materials on the basis of theoretically sound,
systematic judgments, and to articulate those evaluations in both
oral and written form. (Lec. 3) Pre: restricted to students accepted
to teacher education or graduate standing or permission of
instructor. APPROVED
HDF 483X Senior Field
Experience Seminar (1)
Group discussion of field experiences in
community agencies, analysis of professional roles and
responsibilities, and related academic assignments. Includes ongoing
written reflections and portfolio. (Seminar) Pre: concurrent
enrollment with 480 and permission of instructor. Senior standing.
Not for graduate credit. Service learning. APPROVED

The TEMPORARY COURSE
NEWSLETTER is distributed on the last weekday of each month, as
required, throughout the calendar year. Proposed temporary courses
received by the 25th of the month will be printed in that month's
edition of the TEMPORARY COURSE NEWSLETTER.
