A: NEW COURSES

 

LAR 472 The Design of Home-Scale Renewable Energy Systems (4 crs.)
Explores the design and implementation of renewable energy systems for household

or small site use. Intellectual property, patents and business potentials are explored

for two prototypes developed in class facilities. (Lec. 2, Studio 2)

Pre: sophomore standing and above. No prerequisite are required.

 

PSC 492 Controversies in Political Science (4 crs.)
Despite all that political scientists have learned about government and politics,

significant questions persist. Controversies in Political Science brings together

he best scholarship and organizes it around five important debates that drive

research in the field on major topics of study: definition, measurement, historical

dynamics, causes, and consequences. (Online 4)

MAF(SOC) 340X Environmental Sociology (3 crs.)
This course will review how human societies interact with the environment,

how these interactions lead to ecological and social problems, and how society

generates solutions to environmental issues. (Lec. 3)

Pre: SOC 100 or permission of instructor.

 

PLS 395X  Agroecology and Global Food Systems (3 crs.) (not x-listed)
Agricultural production, food expectations, environmental safeguards,

food safety and producer viability continue to grow more complex in a

global economy. The student will explore and integrate ecological

principals to global system changes.

Recommendation: That the CAC follow its past practice of considering and approving X courses

by email between the last meeting in the spring and the first meeting in the fall as long as there

are no objections. If objections are raised, consideration of the temporary course(s)

will be postponed until the first CAC meeting in the fall.

V. DISCUSSION ITEMS:

A. Discussion of the need for an approval process for the online version of a face-to-face topic

    (topics course).


B. Discussion of the need for re-approval for online version, for a previously approved

    course now requesting changes to the course number, description, pre-re.

    i.e. NUR 100
