The UAP of Rhode Island is implementing researched based procedures in order to establish "Best Practices" for the care of individuals with disabilities. The UAP advocates positive behavioral support strategies as individual with disabilities learn to make decisions about their own lives through education, understand and training. The UAP seeks to enhance the ability of all public and private institutions to accommodate and provide for the needs of disabled individuals. These enhancements serve to increase the viable contributions of both the individuals and the institutions. The UAP seeks to apply assistive technology in order to enhance the quality of life for those with disabilities.
