Background of the Workshop:
For the joint research activity among the Global U8 Consortium, Newport Resolution at Rhode Island in 2004 has been adopted to have a workshop on IT at Inha University in 2005, which has also been confirmed at the Council of Global U8 Presidents at Xiamen University, China last May. Thus far, we had workshops on Bio-Technology at Inha University in December, 2004 and Global Logistics in Honolulu, HI in February, 2005.
Information technology is one of new frontiers in 21st century worldwide and thus every country has strong and intensive programs to support the research and development activities in its nation. Global collaboration and joint research becomes thus very important in this very dynamic and competitive field in order to stay ahead of the others. Therefore, we would like to have scholars from Global U8 Consortium at this three-day Workshop for the purposes of:
- presenting current research outcome and activities with ongoing those and future plan of each participant,
- sharing ideas and information on information science and technology,
- identifying research areas of common interest and strength
- exploring research funds and cooperative ways to support future joint research activities.
