Anurag Danda - Environmental Impacts of India?s Development: The Story of the Royal Bengal Tiger

Tuesday evening, 7:30 p.m.-9:00 p.m.
December 1, 2009
Chafee Social Sciences Center 271 URI Kingston Campus

Head of the world Wildlife Fund Project in the Sundarbans Delta of Eastern India, Dr. Anurag Danda will talk about the precarious ecosystem where the Royal Bengal Tiger coexists with millions of subsistence village folks relying on fishing and agriculture. Dramatic tidal changes daily, as well as heavy rains and cyclones (hurricanes) occasionally, make this ecosystem very lush and fertile, but also balanced precariously between nature's bounty and nature's fury.
