URI e-Campus HCM

Ensuring personal data is secure and protected is of primary concern to the Human Capital Management Team. All e-Campus users are responsible for making sure data they access and retrieve from the system is secure as well.

Here are some initial steps you can take to help protect sensitive data in your office.

1) Lock down computer when not at your desk. PC's connected to the network (ctrl+alt+del) select "lock computer". Macintosh & PC's not connected to the network should consider setting a system password.

2) Store sensitive data on a secure shared network drive in your office. Data stored on a secure network drive is more protected there than on your desktop. If sensitive data is stored on your desktop it should be encrypted. Use of a secure encrypted USB thumb drive is recommended for users who need to transport sensitive data. Two recommendations for secure thumb drives are the Kingston DataTraveler Secure - Privacy Edition (PC) and the MXI Security Stealth MXP drive (MAC or PC).

3) Never share reports or other data containing personal info via email.

4) Data Confidentiality - A reminder to e-Campus users of the Data Confidentiality Statement all users agree to when they first sign on to the e-Campus system. Users are responsible for maintaining security of their userID and Password and should never share them. In addition users are responsible for security of personal data they obtain or access in the system including printed information. Everyone is encouraged to review the terms of the Data Confidentiality Statement.
