Sakai Outage
Thu, 10 Sept 2009 20:00:00 EDT
We are experiencing a problem with Sakai that is intermittently
preventing users from logging on. We've had to restart Sakai in an
attempt to stabilize the system. We have not had the opportunity to test Sakai with such a large
number of users logged on, and are doing everything we can to resolve
the situation. Please bear with us and accept our regret if this is
causing you an inconvenience. If there are any additional questions, please contact the Help Desk at 401-874-HELP or helpdesk@uri.edu.

New Phishing Scam Method
Mon, 31 AUG 2009 09:00:00 EDT
The URI community is now receiving a new type of email phishing scam. This new scam directs users to respond to them to validate their email username and password in order to keep their email account. Please do not respond to these emails. If there are any problems or questions about an email you receive, please contact the Help Desk at 401-874-HELP or helpdesk@uri.edu.
Virus Clinics
During the academic semester, the Help Desk runs free virus clinics weeknights from 6pm to 9pm, Saturday from 11am to 1pm, and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. There are a limited number of appointments per session and sessions may be completely booked weeks in advance. Call 401-874-4357 and speak to a consultant to make an appointment.
You will need to bring your computer along with any special power cables and operating system CDs to the lower level of the library (LL19) for your appointment. You do not need to bring the monitor, mouse, or keyboard. Prompt arrival is requested as virus clinics often require the full three hours. You must stay with your machine during this time.
