The Web at URI cuts across boundaries and by nature is a distributed system. Though the Office of Information Services is centrally responsible for the Web infrastructure at URI, stakeholders are distributed with parts of the system owned and controlled by different departments and offices on campus. The WMT was formed to address the day-to-day operation of the URI Web and welcomes any suggestions about how we can improve our Web services and resources at URI.
The Charge to the WMT:
- Solicit input from URI about Web needs
- Coordinate implementation of new Web applications
- Help keep campus informed about URI Web services and direction
- Identify resources and recommend Web strategies to the Web Strategies and Planning Committee that will help streamline and automate the development and maintenance of URI Web.
Current and Past Projects the WMT Worked on:

Researched and selected the Percussion Rhythmyx content management system for the University community

Researched Web usage statistics to guide the URI home page redesign project.

Develop Web templates to prepare for the implementation of the selected content management system

Develop Web Standards Guide. The goal is to help reinforce the University's brand identity, build widespread public awareness of the University's high-quality academic programs and services and ensure that web sites are consistent with the University's overal strategic marketing and communications efforts.
