Instructions on How to Use the Web Templates

Step 2 - Define a Dreamweaver site and set up FTP connection

  1. Apply for a Web account if you don't already have one.
  2. Launch Dreamweaver
Remember that defining a site in Dreamweaver is very important to ensure that your files are relative to each other. Defining a site also becomes essential when you work with Dreamweaver Templates, as templates can be applied across a site.
  3. Select Site > Manage Site from the top pull-down menu.

Select New. A new window will open and ask you to assign a Site Name.

Define new site

Give your site whatever name you'd like to such as WWW, myWebSite or myDeptWeb. Browse to find your local root folder and default images folder. Click OK to proceed. Click on the image to enlarge it.

Define site

  1. Next, select Remote Info Under Category to move on to define your remote site information as below:
    a. Access: Select FTP mode
    b. FTP host: www.uri.edu
    c. Host directory: leave this field blank (as your account already contains directory information)
