Instructions on How to Use the Web Templates

Step 4 - Creating pages based on the revised template

You may now proceed to create more HTML pages using the template you just revised. To create a new Web page:

  1. Select "File>New and then select the Templates tab. After you select your template, click the Create button. Click on image to enlarge it.

  2. Save the file as index.html. This will be the home page for your site.
  3. Since this page is based on the template file you just revised, you can only modify the page title field and the content field. Modify the Title field to reflect the content of your home page.
  4. Add your content to the area with the marker "Content_Area", shaded in black below.

Template 1: Click on image to enlarge it.

Template 2: Click on image to enlarge it.

Template 3: You need to modify title, content area and spotlight section. Click on image to enlarge it.

  5. Save your file.
  6. Create as many pages as you see fit for you site following the steps listed above. When you are ready to upload your pages, proceed to the next step.
  7. If you need to make further changes to your department name, table of contents, footer information, and images on the left or top, you have to open the template file again and change them there. You will be prompted by Dreamweaver whether or not you want to update the pages that use the template. Say yes to proceed.
