By Car
From the north, take I-95 South to Exit 9 (Route 4 South) in RHODE ISLAND, follow Route 4 to Route 1 South. Stay on Route 1 until the intersection of Route 138 West. Route 138 West will bring you to the University.
From the south, take I-95 North to Exit 3A (Route 138 East). Continue east on Route 138 to the University.
From Newport, follow Route 138 West over the Newport and Jamestown bridges to Route 1. Take Route 1 South to Route 138 West. Follow Route 138 West to the University.
By Bus

Bus service to URI's Kingston Campus is available on RIPTA route 66 connecting URI to Providence.
Bus service to URI's Providence Campus is available from 35 routes at Kennedy Plaza, just a two block walk from campus.
For on campus travel, in addition to the on campus shuttle (RIPTA route 211 Blue Line), RIPTA also provides Kingston Flex (Route 210), a reservation based on campus door to door service. For more info about Kingston Flex, call 877-906-3539.

By Train:
Amtrak 1-800-872-7245. The Kingston, R.I. station is about two miles from URI.
By Plane
T.F. Green State Airport is located about 20 miles from URI. Bus transportation and car rentals are available at the airport.
The main campus of the University of Rhode Island is located in Kingston, 30 miles south of Providence, 75 miles from Boston, and 160 miles from New York City. R.I. Route 138, which connects with Interstate Route 95 ten miles to the west, passes through Kingston. The Amtrak railroad station is in West Kingston, two miles from the campus. Buses from Providence and New York City stop at the Memorial Union on campus. The nearest airport is 35 minutes away in Warwick, just south of Providence.
We suggest that you enter the University campus at the junction of Route 138 and Upper College Road, at the traffic light. You will find the campus Information Center on your right after the first intersection on Upper College Road. The Information Center will provide a visitor’s parking pass and directions for parking. A detailed map of the campus is also available.
The Information Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and at other times by special arrangement. If you have special needs, please alert the Information Center by calling 401-874-2133.
