URI’s Providence Campus is located in the historic Shepard Building in the heart of downtown Providence, between Washington and Westminster Streets. To get here, follow the directions below. Driving North on I-95 Take Exit 22A, proceed to light and bear right onto Francis Street. Take another right onto West Exchange Street to the Rhode Island Convention Center garage. Driving South on I-95 Take Exit 22A, proceed forward from light onto Memorial Drive and take first right onto Exchange Street. Take another right onto Exchange Terrace, follow Exchange Terrace onto West Exchange Street to the Rhode Island Convention Center garage. Driving From Route 10 Take the Downtown exit, then follow the directions listed above. Driving From Route 6 Take the Dean Street exit, bear left off exit ramp, and take immediate first right onto West Exchange Street to the Rhode Island Convention Center garage. By Bus CCE is a short walk from Kennedy Plaza, the hub for all RIPTA buses to and from downtown. Just walk two blocks up Washington Street behind City Hall. For fare or route information, call 401-781-9400 (hearing impaired, 401-784-9524). RIPTA bus passes are available in the Office of Student Services (Room 125).Parking Free parking and 24-hour security are provided for all registered students at the Rhode Island Convention Center garage, three blocks from URI. Parking passes are distributed with student IDs during the first week of each semester. To get from the garage to URI, walk down brightly-lit Mathewson Street, the corridor leading from the Convention Center to the Providence Performing Arts Center. Escorts are available from 5–10 p.m. to accompany you to and from the parking garage, if you wish. Supplemental parking (free) is also available evenings at the Garrahy Judicial Complex on Clifford Street. Take Exit 1 (Downtown) from I-195 East or West. Take the first left off the ramp onto Dyer Street, then the second right onto Clifford Street. The lot is on the right just after the Judicial Complex. Handicapped Parking Follow the directions for I-95 and Route 10, and turn right onto Francis Street. Continue on Dorrance Street past the Biltmore Hotel, then turn right onto Westminster Street. Go past URI’s Shepard Building and turn right onto Mathewson Street to the In-Town Parking Lot. There are designated handicapped drop-off spaces on Westminster and Washington Streets as well. Several of these spots are located directly in front of our building on Washington Street.
