Position Description
TITLE: Vice Provost, Academic Affairs
DIVISION: Academic Affairs
REPORTS TO: Provost
GRADE: 20
SUPERVISES: Professional, technical and clerical support staff
BASIC FUNCTION:
Chief responsibility includes management of and leadership in all academic programs and services, including academic enrollment. Provide overall guidance for undergraduate/general education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly responsible to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs for the following: Admissions, Enrollment Services, Honors Program, Summer Sessions, Program Development, academic regulations and policy, Faculty Senate, Instructional Development Program, Outcomes Assessment and other areas as determined by the Provost.
Serve as liaison to the Faculty Senate and to
Prepare analyses and reports on new and existing programs and degree offerings for review by the President, the Commissioner of Higher Education and the Board of Governors.
Serve as liaison with Facilities and Operations, and the Office of Planning and Design, addressing space planning and allocation, with service on relevant committees.
Serve as designee of the Provost and Vice President for
Academic Affairs on the Curricular Affairs Committee,
OTHER DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act in the absence of the Provost on matters delegated by the Provost.
Perform other duties as required.
ENVIRONMENTAL
CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: Earned doctorate and minimum five years as a leader in higher education, including experience in teaching, research and administration; knowledge of and experience with budget and accounting, enrollment management systems, assessment, academic programs and planning techniques, and systems of university governance; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to organize, coordinate and supervise support staff; ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations and to communicate the interpretation to others; strong interpersonal skills.
