Title of Position:            Lecturer (Public Services Department)

This is an entry level, two year, non-tenure academic year appointment ending 05/22/09, with renewal subject to annual review.  Recontracting for the summer may be possible.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Provide reference and instructional services to a diverse group of patrons.  Teach credit bearing courses in Information Literacy.  Responsible for the preparation of guides and instructional material.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:  ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent with coursework in reference and information literacy instruction; knowledge of information and instructional technologies; ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken English; ability to contribute collegially and productively in a team environment; ability to work effectively in a busy reference environment.  Preferred:  Academic/research library experience; experience in library instruction; experience in teaching credit bearing information literacy courses.
