TITLE:            Research Associate IV

 

DIVISION:         Division and College/Dept

 

REPORTS TO:       Principal Investigator and/or Dean and/or Director

 

GRADE:            13

 

SUPERVISES:       Research Assistants/Research Associates and/or others assigned to assist with the project

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Perform independent research work to achieve research goals and objectives; oversee others engaged on the project(s).

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Perform, without direction, independent, complex and important research work that is rarely, if ever, reviewed.

 

Perform complex experiments involving use of highly technical instruments and devices.  Such experiments are rarely, if ever, reviewed.

 

Responsible for the performance of complex tests on materials or specimens and for analyzing samples.

 

May be, or perform work as, a co-principal investigator.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Perform additional duties as required.

      

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:                                     

 

Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

 

This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.


QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Ph.D. in _________________________ required or master's degree in __________________________ with four years of experience in ___________________________ required.  Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to

organize, coordinate and supervise support staff.  Must possess strong interpersonal skills.
