Industrial Hygienist, PSA/NEA, (108541), Public Health.   Salary Range: $49,296-$61,706 (Full time/calendar year rate).  Develop, implement, and monitor an institution-wide occupational health & safety program, using industrial hygiene concepts to establish and maintain a safe work and living environment for employees, students, and residents through the identification and correction of unsafe conditions. Required:  Bachelor's degree in an environmental health and safety-related discipline, preferably industrial hygiene, engineering, biological sciences/chemistry or equivalent; three to five years of experience in industrial hygiene/safety practice, including one year in the development and implementation of industrial hygiene programs; demonstrated knowledge of current EH & S regulations, with primary emphasis on industrial hygiene and occupational safety and health; ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment; demonstrated knowledge of safe work habits; ability to recognize unsafe conditions and to determine the necessary corrective actions; ability to communicate effectively and clearly both verbally and in writing; ability or organize, coordinate and supervise support staff; commitment to diversity.  Strongly preferred:  Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification.  Preferred:  Master’s degree in an environmental health and safety-related discipline; strong background in principles of ventilation.  Submit (no emails or faxes, please) a resume and cover letter postmarked by  03-27-09 to: J Vernon Wyman, Search Chair, Refer to Req# 12317

 

Fire Safety Specialist, PSA/NEA, (106306), Safety & Health. Salary Range:  $49,296-$61,706 (Full time/calendar year rate).  Support the development, implementation, and management of University fire prevention and life safety programs and policies for the University’s Campuses, addressing compliance with applicable fire and life safety statutes, codes, regulations, and policies.  Supervise a team of University Fire Safety Inspectors to identify and initiate corrective action to address deficiencies in University facilities and promote best practices for fire prevention and life safety. Bachelor's degree required, preferably in fire safety science, occupational health and safety, engineering, or a degree in related scientific field of study and three to five years of direct fire safety and health experience, including fire inspection, demonstrated ability to interpret NFPA, state and federal regulations, and building codes pertaining to fire safety and occupational health.  Also required: ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment; knowledge of safe work habits; ability to recognize unsafe conditions and to determine the necessary corrective actions; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; ability to organize, coordinate and supervise support staff, with commitment to diversity.  Preferred:  Experience in the development and implementation of fire safety programs.  Submit (no emails or faxes, please) a resume and cover letter postmarked by  03-27-09 to: J Vernon Wyman, Search Chair, Refer to Req# 12318
