Interim Assistant
Director, Publications/Design Services, PSA/NEA, (107397), Publications.
Salary Range: $53,055-$66,960 (Full time/calendar year
rate). This is an interim position, limited to one year with possible extension.
Limited to current URI employees. Administer and direct the visual design,
graphic production and electronic publishing activities of the University's
Publications Office. Supervise the activities
of the graphics department in the Publications Office. Supervise Production Coordinator in
maintaining and upgrading hardware and software components of a sophisticated
office electronic publishing system for print and Web publications. Oversee and coordinate the concept
development, graphic design and
production of a sophisticated program of publications and periodicals
designed to support the institutional advancement priorities of the Division of
University Advancement and the recruitment and information al objectives of the
University's academic programs. Serve as
Art Director and primary designer for the Advancement Website, and serve as
ongoing member of the University-wide Web Committee. Bachelor's degree in
graphic design or related professional graphic arts degree required. A minimum of five years' professional
experience in publications design with at least two years of publications
management required. Prior experience
supervising graphic designers as an art director or a director of creative
services preferred. A proven sense of
graphic design aesthetics and a thorough knowledge of print and Web-based
publication production techniques required.
Advanced experience in Macintosh publishing and layout applications
(inDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for print publications and Web authoring
required. Sophisticated technical
knowledge of electronic publishing hardware, software and system networking
required. This position requires that
the incumbent possess the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
and be able to organize, coordinate and supervise support staff. Must be able to interpret institutional
policies, plans, objectives, rules and regulations and communicate the
interpretation to subordinates and others.

Center

PSA/NEA, (107333), Human Science & Services. Salary Range: $45,745-$57,232 (salary will be pro-rated to reflect
part-time schedule). This is a
part-time position (30 hours per week), limited to six months with extension
contingent on funding. Responsible for curriculum planning and implementation,
as well as for the supervision of a group of pre-primary children at the Child Development
Center in Kingston.
Responsible for the supervision and training of undergraduate students
interning in the Center. Communicate
with the families of the children in the Child
Development Center,
and serve as a representative of the Child
Development Center
to the surrounding community. Bachelor's
degree in early childhood education or related field required; master's degree
in early childhood education preferred.
Must have and maintain early childhood education teacher certification
valid within the State of Rhode
Island. Must
meet all DCYF and RI Department of Education requirements and certification,
including police criminal checks. Must
have some experience teaching pre-primary children in a laboratory school or
related setting (one year preferred).
Must demonstrate practices consistent with developmentally appropriate
early childhood educational practice according to the guidelines established by
the National Association for the Education of Young Children. Experience in supervising undergraduates in
teacher preparation programs preferred.

University Police Sergeant, PTAA, (105561), Security.
Salary Range: $36,853-$48,020 (Full
time/calendar year rate). Provide supervision to Police Officers and lesser rank
public safety personnel at the University
of Rhode Island campuses.
With a high degree of professionalism, promote public safety, enforce laws and
Board of Governors and University of Rhode Island regulations; effect arrests
in accordance with provisions of federal, state, and local laws and ordinances;
maintain order and security on premises within the legal jurisdiction; provide
emergency medical services to the University community; protect life and
property. Required: Associate's degree, preferably in police
science or other related curriculum; successful completion of a police training
curriculum approved by the RI Police Officers' Commission on Standards and
Training prior to hire; significant law enforcement experience such as gained
through a minimum of three years of employment with a campus police force, a
municipal or state police force, or other governmental enforcement
organization; excellent interpersonal skills and verbal and written
communication skills; ability to work evening and weekend hours; ability to
work within a diverse community. Must have and maintain a valid driver's
license and CPR certificate. Must be physically qualified to perform assigned
duties as evidenced by a physician's certificate. Must satisfactorily pass a
formal review process, which may include agility, psychological and/or
competency tests. Must pass a national
