Assistant Professor, Analytical Chemistry, AAUP Acad, (107784), Chemistry. This is a tenure-track appointment beginning Fall of 2009.  Teach courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels; advise students at the undergraduate and graduate level; conduct research in the area of analytical chemistry; participate in department and university committee assignments.  Ph.D. in chemistry or closely-related field required by time of appointment.  Post-doctoral or industrial experience preferred.  Demonstrated commitment to the effective teaching of analytical chemistry at both the undergraduate (quantitative analysis and instrumental analysis)and graduate levels required.  Must demonstrate the likelihood to develop an externally-funded research program.  The research area is open to any area of analytical chemistry.  Submit (no emails or faxes, please) a vita, a description of research plans, required startup costs, a statement of teaching philosophy, and have three (3) lettes of recommendation sent postmarked by 2-20-09 to: William B. Research Assistant III, NUNC, (new), School of Education. Salary Range:  $27,263-$56,909 (Full time/calendar year rate).  Position is limited to 6/30/09 with extension contingent on funding. Under supervision of CAREERS PI and Co-PIs, assist with video data collection, perform research analyses of elementary science lessions using StudioCode software, prepare video presentations and instructional demonstrations; perform electronic file transfers and maintain data integrity; provide general technical consultation.  Provide additional research support as required.  Required:  Bachelor's degree in psychology with three years of experience in a combination of research (at least one year) and teaching or tutoring; experience with videotape analysis; experience performing statistical analyses; computer skills, including video analysis and video presentation software; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.  Preferred:  Experience working cooperatively in a large research group; experience working with diverse population.  Submit (no emails or faxes, please) a resume and cover letter postmarked by 1-16-09 to:  Betty Jean Young, Search Chair, Refer to Req# 12371

 

Learning Specialist, Academic Enhancement Center/Central Falls High School, PSA/NEA, (106948), School Partnerships. Salary Range:  $45,745-$57,232 (Full time/calendar year rate).  Position is limited to 6/30/2010 with extension contingent on funding.  Under the supervision of the Executive Assistant to the President and Director, Planning Services, oversee all areas of operation in a learning assistance center located at Central Falls High School.  Required: Master's degree in education, teaching, or related field; two years of experience working in support of learning with urban student populations (may include work performed as a graduate assistant); experience working with at-risk student populations, such as Limited English Proficient, special education, or learning disabled students; experience working in a learning assistance environment; demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills.  Preferred:  Bilingual; supervisory experience; experience coordinating learning assistance services; experience planning and conducting staff training and development; experience in education assessment, data collection, data management and data analysis.  Submit (no emails or faxes, please) a resume and cover letter postmarked by 1-16-09 to: David B.
