SNOW REMOVAL & GROUNDS WORK
SPECIAL POSTING FOR
LOCAL 528 MEMBERS
The Department of Landscape and Grounds is preparing a new 2008-2009
list of Council 94/Local 528 employees to assist, complement or relieve Grounds
personnel during snow removal operations and a list for grounds maintenance
work. Employees on the Sign Up list(s)
will be notified when additional workers are needed to support the Landscape
and Grounds department personnel.
Personnel will be contacted by Seniority and in rotation.
Snow removal work includes shoveling, snow blowing, plowing, de-icing,
sanding, operating small equipment and other related duties. Training for the operation of equipment will
be scheduled. This year we will require
and provide additional certification training for snowplow operators. Employees will be compensated for those
training hours.
Grounds maintenance work includes:
weeding, trimming, mulching, planting, raking, mowing, sweeping, litter
and trash collection, shoveling, setup and breakdown for campus events,
athletic games, and other related duties.

techniques, conventional and test kits, to evaluate on-site cleaning, sanitation
and hygiene practices for food preparation areas in foodservice areas, and
report results through graphics representations and statistical analyses. Travel throughout Rhode Island to take test samples/swabs of
food preparation and serving areas for pre- and post-evaluation of food safety
training of workers. Work is primarily
in the Food Science and Nutrition Research Center
in West Kingston. Required: Bachelor's degree in microbiology, food
science or related field; 2 years of laboratory and/or appropriate food
industry experience (relevant graduate student assistantships and/or
internships will be considered as part of this work experience); knowledge of
food safety principles and microbiological and aseptic techniques; knowledge of
basic chemical principles, laboratory methods, sampling techniques and overall
experimental protocol; computer skills relating to graphics and spreadsheet
software, and to data input and data analysis; ability to work independently;
