Title of Position:          Associate/Full Professor, College of Nursing Weyker Endowed Chair in Thanatology

The College of Nursing anticipates an opening for a tenure track appointment of an Associate/Full Professor for the Fall, 2008, half time faculty/half time responsibility Weyker Endowed Chair of Thanatology.

BASIC FUNCTION:

As the Endowed Weyker Chair,  assume administrative responsibilities for the interdisciplinary minor and post-master's certificate in thanatology and advise students in the BS, MS and PhD programs.  Facilitate a program of nursing/interdisciplinary research and participate in a variety of College and community initiatives to promote the mission of the Chair.  Assume a leadership role within the College of Nursing and University in the discovery and dissemination of knowledge and skills that will improve the physical, psychosocial and spiritual care of the dying and bereaved.  Responsibility for teaching, scholarship and service as a graduate faculty member within the College of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:  Ph.D. in Nursing or a closely related field with a master's degree in Nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in the state of Rhode Island; demonstrated knowledge and expertise in thanatology; demonstrated record of research and scholarly productivity in thanatology and ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to accomplish goals and to secure extramural funding for new initiatives.  Preferred:  Experience in teaching at the graduate level and record of scholarly publications in thanatology or related field.
