Position Description
Title of Position: Lecturer (
Department:
This is a full-time position, limited to the '08 - '09 academic year, with
extension contingent on funding.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide instructional support
for in-service and pre-service teachers in hands-on, inquiry-based K-8 science
curriculum to Guiding Education in Math & Science Network (GEMSNET) partner
school districts and URI elementary/middle teacher education students. Teach
undergraduate/graduate teacher education courses on methods of teaching
science. Conduct and monitor science education research and development at the
local and national levels.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master's degree in education plus 30 additional
credits in education or a related field; RI certification in elementary grades
and special education; minimum of five years of classroom teaching experience,
including multiple grade levels; evidence of commitment to elementary science
education reform; successful experience in teaching and leading science
professional development with pre-service and in-service teachers.
