TITLE: Marine Research Associate II
DIVISION: Academic
Affairs (
REPORTS TO: Director of US Programs, Coastal
GRADE: 10
SUPERVISES: Supervise support staff as required
BASIC FUNCTION:
Responsible for providing substantial
technical and research support for CRC’s national,
regional and local coastal and watershed management efforts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical
and research support on coastal management issues to selected aspects of CRC’s
Assist in the development of research proposals, technical reports and publishing of research.
Develop work plans, budgets and progress reports to meet CRC, Sea Grant, and other funder requirements.
Provide
responsive support to the CRC’s
Organize and attend trainings, conferences, and workshops, both regionally and locally. Supervise graduate students in project efforts.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform additional duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT IN THE ORGANIC GEOCHEMISTRY LAB:
Valid driver’s license. Personal computers, printers; word processing, database, and spreadsheet software.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master's degree required in Marine Affairs or related field, plus minimum of two years of experience working in a marine-based business and/or not-for profit planning, and/or environmental education organization; prior experience as a trainer, including leading team building exercises and developing and presenting marine education curricula; excellent interpersonal skills, as well as written and verbal communication skills. Must have published in peer-reviewed journal. Must have own transportation and be able to travel in-state to attend weeknight and weekend meetings. Preferred: Experience with GIS applications; experience working in the maritime industry, and analyzing water-dependent uses; professional teaching experience and/or formal training/teaching certificate.
