Research Assistant III

SUPERVISES: Undergraduate students as required
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under supervision
of CAREERS PI and Co-PIs, assist with video data collection, perform research
analyses of elementary science lessons using StudioCode
software, prepare video presentations and instructional demonstrations; perform
electronic file transfers and maintain data integrity; provide general technical consultation. Provide additional research support as
required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform research
tasks under review of CAREERS PI and Co-PIs.
Assist in
collection of videotaped data.
Assist in the
analysis of videotaped elementary science lessons and participant interviews.
Use StudioCode to transcribe verbal data for analysis.
Maintain and troubleshoot video recording equipment such
as camcorders and video production
units, use computers and technical software for the preparation, analysis, and
presentation of video data.
Provide general technical consultation to PI’s and other senior personnel.
Perform electronic file transfer and maintain data
integrity.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform other
duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal
computers, printers; word processing, database and spreadsheet software;
operation of digital video cameras; use of StudioCode
video analysis software and video presentation software
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
The incumbent is
not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in psychology with three years
of experience in a combination of research (at least one year) and teaching or
tutoring; experience with videotape analysis;
experience performing statistical analyses; computer skills, including video
analysis and video presentation software; demonstrated ability to communicate
effectively orally and in writing; strong interpersonal skills. PREFERRED: Experience working cooperatively in a
large research group; experience working with diverse population.
