TITLE: Research Associate I
DIVISION: Academic Affairs (HSS: Gerontology)
REPORTS TO: Principal Investigator
GRADE: 7
SUPERVISES: Professional staff and volunteers
BASIC FUNCTION:
Reporting to the
Principal Investigator, conduct independent program development,
administration, and evaluation in support of Osher
Lifelong Learning Institute at URI, and provide overall program management and
leadership in conjunction with key program committees.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with preparing funding agency reports, including providing data regarding program participation and effectiveness.
Liaise with committees to monitor their direction and effectiveness, and serve ex officio on the executive committee.
Promote networking, collaboration, and outreach to community groups and individuals.
Play a leadership role in strategic planning and fundraising, including grant writing.
Prepare and manage annual budget.
Supervise staff members and volunteers.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform additional duties as required.
LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
Personal computers, printers; word processing and spreadsheet software.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
This position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master’s degree in education, health profession, human service, business, or other relevant field, OR bachelor’s degree in one of the aforementioned areas with five years of professional experience in either for-profit or non-profit sector. The following are also required: strong interpersonal, teamwork and oral and written communication skills; proven management experience, including planning, organizing, implementing, or assessing programs and supervising staff and/or volunteers; demonstrated experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
Preferred:
Experience in non-profit administration; grant-writing experience; demonstrated
ability to work with diverse groups.
