Title of Position: Lecturer, Chinese

The Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures at the University of Rhode Island invites applications for a Lecturer in Mandarin Chinese for the academic year beginning August 25, 2009. This is a full-time position, non-tenure track, renewable contingent upon performance and funding.

BASIC FUNCTION:

Teach Mandarin Chinese for the beginning, intermediate and advanced intermediate levels.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: A Master's degree or higher in a relevant area; native or near-native Chinese language skills; prior experience teaching Chinese at the university level to native speakers of English; experience in building a Chinese language and culture program for American students. Preference will be given to candidates with background in language pedagogy and/or language acquisition.
