Position Description
Title of Position: Assistant Professor,
Kinesiology (Physical Education Pedagogy)
Department: Kinesiology
This is an academic year, tenure-track
position beginning Fall of 2009.
BASIC FUNCTION:
(1) Teach undergraduate and/or
graduate courses in health, physical education, and adapted physical education
and engage in scholarly activities; (2) mentor/advise undergraduate/graduate
students; (3) seek external funding through scholarship and research; (4)
collect departmental assessment data and assist in writing state and NCATE/NASPE
accreditation reports; and (5) provide service to the department, school,
university, P-12 schools, community organizations, and professional
organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Earned
doctorate from an accredited university or college in Physical Education
Pedagogy or related field, with appropriate and related experience; K-12 public
school teaching experience in physical education and health education;
demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, scholarship, and
professional development activities; excellent written, verbal, and
interpersonal communication skills; ability to work with diverse groups. Preferred:
University teaching experience in the areas of physical education pedagogy or
related field; experience in student teaching supervision; proficient
implementation of technology in teaching and research; clear understanding of
state certification requirements and state initiatives; demonstrated ability to
publish in both research and applied journals within the field; experience in
creating NCATE/NASPE accreditation reports; a record of academic, professional
and community service; demonstrated willingness to oversee state and national
accreditation for physical and health education.
